Hat and cap throughput
Cap Embroidery Production Calculator
Estimate cap-order hours, pieces per hour, partial-head utilization and operator load using measured cap run and hooping times.
Why caps deserve their own model
Do not apply flat-garment SPM blindly to hats.
Brother's official PR1055X sell sheet publishes a 400–1,000 SPM frame range but a lower 400–600 SPM cap-frame range. Other commercial systems have different hardware and ratings, so this calculator asks for your measured cap minutes per 1,000 stitches instead of inventing one universal speed.
Cap hooping can also take longer than flat loading. That extra operator time becomes critical on multi-head equipment because every cycle needs multiple prepared caps.
FAQ
Common questions
What cap speed should I enter?
Use a measured run from your machine, design and cap style when possible. If you are only evaluating a purchase, use a conservative dealer-validated assumption and stress-test slower values.
Does a 6-head machine make six caps at once?
Only when the cap system supports every head, the order has enough identical caps, and operators can keep all heads loaded.
Does this account for 3D puff?
Not automatically. Use a slower measured minutes-per-1,000 value and higher handling time if that reflects your real puff workflow.
