Why average pieces per week is not enough

A shop can produce 400 easy polos one week and struggle with 180 pieces the next if those 180 are split across dozens of names, caps and high-stitch jacket backs. Capacity is a queue problem before it is a head-count problem.

Five fields worth tracking for every order

  1. Good quantity required. Keep rework separate.
  2. Stitches per piece. Use the digitized design.
  3. Product type. Caps may have different measured run and handling time.
  4. Same-design batch size. This controls whether synchronized heads are actually filled.
  5. Due-date window. Capacity without a deadline is not a schedule.

Reserve capacity on purpose

If you plan every sellable hour, normal variation becomes a late order. A reserve is not wasted equipment; it is the room that absorbs rework, rush work, thread breaks, artwork delays and maintenance.

When modular machines help

Independent heads can run different jobs concurrently. That is valuable when the queue is fragmented. Traditional synchronized multi-head machines become more compelling as repeated same-design batches become large and stable.
